Brisbane Roar midfielder Sam Klein has signed with St. Pauli, joining compatriots Jackson Irvine and Connor Metcalfe at the Millerntor-Stadion next term. The 22-year-old Australian midfielder, who also holds Norwegian citizenship, initially played for Brisbane's U21s after joining the club in January 2021. He enjoyed a short spell with the Gold Coast Knights in 2024 before returning to the Queensland capital in September that year. Klein has made 46 appearances for Brisbane in all competitions to date, registering nine goals and one assist. The Queensland native, who stands at 1.92m, has played every minute of the club's last 17 encounters in Australia's top flight. St. Pauli head coach Alexander Blessin praised Klein's skills, saying, 'Sam boasts exciting skills that enable him to occupy a number of roles in central midfield. He combines good anticipation and vision with accurate passing, and also looks to get on the scoresheet himself. He's aggressive in defence and doesn't hold back in his efforts to win back possession. Thanks to his height, he's also a threat in the air.'
